What the officer checks on a driver's license

USCIS and consular officers verify license classes and restrictions, issue and expiry dates, the issuing authority, and transliteration of your name. Our translation preserves every one of these fields exactly as printed — and your certification page carries a public verification link.

Frequently asked questions

Does my state DMV accept certified translations?
Most state DMVs accept certified translations of foreign licenses for exchange or driving-record purposes; a few require their own approved list — check your DMV page, then upload here.
My license shows categories like B1 or C — are those translated?
License classes are transcribed as printed with the official category description, never guessed at — the DMV maps categories itself.
Which Korean certificate does USCIS actually need?
For most family-based filings: the basic certificate (기본증명서) plus family relation certificate (가족관계증명서), both in detailed (상세) form. We translate whichever you order — check your attorney's checklist.
Is this translation accepted by USCIS?
Yes. USCIS requires a complete English translation together with a certification that the translator is competent and the translation is accurate (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)). Every order includes that signed certification on company letterhead, with an order number that can be independently verified on our verification page. If USCIS ever rejects a translation we prepared, we revise it free of charge or refund you in full.
Do I need a notarized translation?
Not for USCIS. USCIS removed the notarization requirement decades ago — a certified translation is exactly what the instructions ask for. Some DMVs, courts and apostille processes do want notarization; if that is your situation, contact us and we will point you to a suitable notarized-translation provider.
How fast will I get my translation?
Typical orders are delivered in under 10 minutes. Handwritten, damaged or low-resolution documents are routed to manual review and delivered within 24 hours — you'll see the status on your order page.

How certification works. Every order includes a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy on company letterhead that meets the USCIS requirement (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)) for a complete English translation with a translator certification. Each certificate carries an order number you can verify at any time at certmytranslation.com/verify. USCIS does not require notarization for supporting documents — see our USCIS guide.
